The Cosplay Contest

Held on Saturday, it’s a craftsmanship competition with a pre-judging component and a runway display, pre-judging will be held prior to the runway show. Our judges will be judging you on your craftsmanship, attention to detail, and uniqueness. For anyone who doesn’t want to compete but would still like to show off their great cosplay just sign in and let us know you have a walk-on only.

Contestants can only enter in one category, Individual or Group. Due to the unpredictable size of groups, a prize for each member cannot be guaranteed.


Y-Con Cosplay Rules

  • No performances, skills demonstrations, or skits during judging or catwalk.
  • No nudity. As the saying goes: "No costume is no costume".
  • No profanity allowed on stage of any form.
  • No use any sort of projectile at all! All competitors must still abide by the props and weapons policy. This includes but is not limited to; your costume spraying foam, water, smoke, confetti, glitter, etc. Nor can you have any form of explosive or bang bags or any similar special effect.
  • To be judged for accuracy in recreation a reference may be presented during pre-judging. It is recommended it be a front and back color photo on paper.
  • All judging will be done before the showing, off-stage.
  • Do not enter or exit the catwalk except at the designated points.
  • Each contestant may only enter one costume into competition.
  • Contestants are responsible for their costume. Any large elaborate costumes are to be handled by the contestant and/or any one they have to assist them. Y-con will not be responsible to provide assistance.
  • Contestants MUST be signed in for the contest they want to enter at least 30 minutes prior to the posted start time. Last minute entries will not be entered.
  • Contestants MUST be in the contest staging area at least 15 minutes prior to the posted start time for that contest for pre-judging.

FAQs

  • Anyone who violates the rules of the competition may be disqualified from the competition.
  • Nothing must leave your person while you are on the catwalk; ie. plastic bow and arrows the bow cannot have a flexible band or string. A non-elastic rope may be placed but no item can be able to leave the prop.
  • We will not take soundtrack suggestions/request or lighting cues.
